Celebrating Fathers - May 24th Release and Hop!

Hi everyone!  I'm so excited to be part of Creations by AR's Design Team and have joined just in time to participate in the Blog Hop showing the latest template releases!  The template I chose is called Papa's Trunk and it is a beauty to work with.  I began with Tim Holtz's Paper Stash Crowded Attic papers.  For the hinges, handles, clasp and padlock, I used duck tape and alcohol inks!  Just lay the tape over cardstock prior to cutting.
Here's another view with the mini book tucked inside.  Dimensions for the mini book covers are 2-3/4" x 3-5/8".  The inside pages dimensions are 2-1/2" x 3-1/2".  The word 'my' is a little tile bead that was colored with alcohol inks along with the initial 'P'.
Here's the closed trunk with the mini book inside.  A Melissa Frances resin keyhole is affixed to the front of the padlock.  Wood beads were stained with Ranger Distress Stain and hot glued onto the trunk.  Use lots of Distress ink (Vintage Photo) to really give the trunk an aged appearance.
Okay, now for the best part of our blog hop....You get to win a PRIZE just by leaving a comment on my blog!  One random winner per blog will receive one of the new templates!!!!  I will announce the winner this Saturday here.
Click on the next Design Team member on the list below to continue hopping!  Have fun!!!!

Ranger Roundup Class!

The Ranger Roundup class is on June 16th from 10-12pm, $25 and I decided to combine a little Tim Holtz and a little Dyan Revealey styles into a 5-1/2x8 inch spiral bound journal!  Between the two artists, their styles are quite different yet similar in that they are all about layering and building backgrounds.  The class will teach you several (and I mean several!) techniques using products you probably already own.  Dyan has her Dylusions spray inks that are bright and colorful along with her signature templates and stamps.  Tim, of course, has many techniques with his products,  and I'm taking a few from each and hope to hammer them home on two-page spreads that you will complete in the class!
You'll be working with Perfect Mist sprays, Perfect Pearls, Distress Inks, Distress Markers, Distress Crackle Paint, Distress Stains, Acrylic Paint Dabbers, Distress Stickles,  Dylusions Sprays, Templates and stamps and Archival inks.  You will love how many of these products can be used in combination to create beautiful layering effects!
After you have learned all the different techniques, create your cover based on your favorite technique!   Shown is my cover using the wrinkle free distress technique on sticky back canvas.  There is still more tweaking to do to it, but I'm pleased with it so far.
Sign up now at the Shoppe (315-633-5325) to reserve your seat!
You will need to bring the following items with you to class.  I will have all supplies but to speed up the sharing process, you may want some of your own products to work with:
Several Distress Inks with blending pads.  Can't decide?  Bring 'em all!
Distress Markers
Perfect Pearls
Distress Stains
Paint Dabbers
Teflon Craft Sheet (very important!)
Water Spritz Mist Bottle (very important!)
Water Brush

Perfect Distress Splatter Card!

I recently took an online class with Tim Holtz called Creative Chemistry 101 and I have to say that my creative mojo has been given quite the boost!  It also just so happens that I responded to the April challenge over at Stampendous and was able to use some 'creative chemistry' on my card called Perfect Distress Splatter.  This is such a beautiful technique using Distress Inks and Perfect Pearls.
The challenge theme is to re-use, re-cycle or up-cycle things around the house in honor of Earth Day.  I ended up using a strip of burlap that I twisted into a nest!  I also used the Cling Bird Frame, a sentiment from the Birthday Assortment clear stamp set and tea stained mica fragments for dimensional effects.  Stamping was done using Ranger Archival black ink.

Demo Day - Saturday, May 5th 10-12pm!

We are excited to bring you a brand new event to the Shoppe.  I will be demonstrating Ranger's Perfect Pearls!  Chances are you already own this product but perhaps don't use it to its fullest potential.  I'm going to show you six techniques that will knock your socks off.  The sample above is actually two techniques that are simply stunning on black paper.  Kathy's demo will be working with Crafter's Workshop stencils and her techniques are to die for.  Jane will be working with flowers and the many ways to creatively alter them besides just sticking them on a card.  Jen will wrap up the demo with her WOW Embossing Powders!

Plan to stay the entire two hours so you don't miss a single thing.  Demos are a great way to enhance your knowledge of products and to get the most use out of them!  This is a free event and we look forward to seeing you on the 5th!

Little Darlings Envelope Album Class

I am so excited about another Lynnie's mini book class especially because of Graphic 45's Little Darlings papers!   Here's a sneak of the finished mini and tomorrow it is headed over to the Shoppe for display.  So, if you love Graphic 45 (who doesn't?!) and have babies to scrapbook (who doesn't?!), this is the class for you!  Class is May 19th from 1-3pm $32.  Besides a Basic Kit, you will need Vintage Photo distress ink and a blending tool, tape runner and/or favorite adhesives.

To give you a better idea of the layout of the mini book, here it is with the front flap opened.

G45 Kraft Reflections Inspired Card

I've been admiring the Sizzix/Hero Stamp & Diecut Framelits set for awhile and finally had a chance to work with it along with using my fav paper company, Graphic 45 and their newest collection Kraft Reflections.  I love fussy cutting and altering and if you look closely, you'll see where I used the cutouts for a scalloped edge.  The frame was actually a clock that I cut out the center of.  There's a half circle arc piece behind the frame that was actually a teacup saucer!  The word 'Reflections' mounted on the pin was cutout from one of the paper titles!  I Distress Stained the image first in Spun Sugar, then Antique Linen and finally Vintage Photo and added ultra fine glitter to the hat plume with Quickie Glue Pen.  The seam binding is scrunched with a little mist of water.  Foam tape adds dimension to the frame and image.
